Code Poetry
Posted by Jonathan Wise on Oct 10, 2007I have received some feedback, from across the pond (and other places) that some of my posts are incomprehensible — meaning that they’re too geeky for the average person to understand or have any interest in.
While speaking as a geek, I can’t fathom how people wouldn’t be fascinated by the details of configuring WordPress, or hacking together a home theater using only spare parts and a text editor, I guess, as a person, I can see how that information might be a little boring to some. I’ve been told that people really only come here to see pictures of Benjamin anyway!
So although I know there are a few of you fellow geeks out there, I’ve decided to stop posting geek talk to this website — jonandnic.com will be reserved for reflections, news and baby pictures. However, running along-side it will be a new sister-site: software.jonandnic.com — aka: Code Poetry.
This will be my techno-babble site, home of hacks, scripts, interesting links and other geeky fare. If you come to jonandnic.com looking for geek stuff, maybe you’d be more interested in the new site. And if you are, consider this your invitation to contribute to it — my hope is to make Code Poetry a collaborative site, where more than just my own ideas can get discussed and recorded.

And for those of you civilians who don’t speak geek, here’s a picture of Benjamin to entertain you. Rest assured that you can now browse this site (mostly) safe from technobabble…

But… but… that’s why I visit! I liked the tech stuff intermingled with the geeky stuff. Can’t people just skip over the odd tech post?

I meant to put something about ‘life and family’ stuff in that last comment, but indeed my true intentions were revealed.

Alas, not everyone is as cool as you, and their eyes glaze over when they get to the tech stuff. However, the geekiness is still mixed in — via an RSS panel on the sidebar. Just try to imagine the posts combined!
PS: You qualify as geeky enough to post on Code Poetry! Write something cool for everyone to read!

PPS: The Digital Toys section is not going away, so there’ll still be SOME geekiness. Just not the stuff that’s mostly written in languages other than English…

Could you create like an aggregate RSS feed? That’d be nice. One subscription, content from both blogs.

In ASP I could… alas my PHP skillz are not that l33t. How hard is two subscriptions anyway?

Although I confess that I don’t understand most of it, I like to read the technobabble. It just adds to the picture of who you are so I’ll keep reading it.
