Day 2 was a tough one. Nic got very little sleep last night, and while I got plenty, there was not much I could do to help her during the day. When I got to the hospital, I tried taking Abi for a walk so Nic could get a little sleep. I got halfway down the hall before a nurse jumped me and told me that I was not allowed to walk with my child in my arms — she had to be in a crib. So I went back to the room and got the crib and started pushing it toward the waiting room, where I figured we could at least sit together. Just as we were nearing the room though, I heard running footsteps beside me. The same nurse then explained that if we got as far as the waiting room, alarms would go off.
Exasperated, I asked where I could go and sit with my daughter. Our room, was the only place its technically allowed, but I finally convinced them to let me sit in an office for 10 minutes. Of course by then Abi was too cranky to sit still and we had to head back for some quality boob time… which, alas, I cannot provide.
We took turns sitting with her during the day, and she was a lot better by the afternoon. She even took a nap with me on the horribly uncomfortable, grossly over-engineered bed/chair they provide for dads. We also got a couple visitors this afternoon, which was a nice break.
Benjamin, on the other hand, has been having a grand old time living in sin with his girlfriend. Jason is super dad, and when Brooke had to leave for work last night, he managed to bathe, bottle and bed both babies — in the same room, at the same time! Here they are entertaining each other in the bathtub. We can only hope that Ben and Abi get along as famously as these two!
Mom and baby are cleared to come home tomorrow. Ben and I are holding down the fort back at the apartment for the night. As soon as he falls asleep I’ll try to get as much preparation for the home coming done as I can before I pass out…

after you left, i couldnt move off the couch for like an hour and a 1/2….i was so beat. it hit me like a BRICk at like 5:45ish!
well I will see you tomorrow morning… my mom will be here after all, i will be back by 9:30…. I will bring ben to you after his nappy napperson.
